• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is illegal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that highlights numerous amenities in addition to the casino, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
